Leadership Speaks: The 20 Minute Interview is being launched tomorrow tuesday, November 24, 2009. The series, sponsored by Avancemos Alliance, will focus on Rhode Island state leaders who exemplify qualities of outstanding leadership. Leadership Speaks has the following goals: To recognize outstanding state leaders and to start a dialogue regarding the manner effective leadership is perceived, implemented and sustained.
Having met with prominent state leaders, Avancemos Alliance has asked select leaders to answer questions that will help Rhode Islanders learn more about these state leaders. The interviews represent the range of leadership styles and organizations found in the state.
The series opener features an interview with Colonel Brendan P. Doherty, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police. Colonel Doherty is a 26 year veteran of the state police and is the eleventh superintendent to lead the organization. He is also the R.I. Commissioner of Public Safety, oversees the Rhode Island Capitol Police, the Municipal Training Academy, E911, and the Fire Marshal’s Office. In addition, Colonel Doherty is very active doing volunteer work throughout the state.
